Salvatore Verniti

I was born in Torre Annunziata, (ex. Oplonti where the Nerone and Popea’s residence was located during the roman period, right near Pompeii not far from Ercolanum), a place you can visit today. Since my youngest age I was attracted to the ruins of Pompeii, the beautiful fresco, the national museum, the Capodimonte museum where it’s possible to admire all the 20th Century Napolitan painters.... and the “Macchiaioli”. Later I studied at the Beaux Arts in Napoli, the Arte Statale Institute and after 4 years I received a Master Degree in Art . I continued to take a superior course for 2 years and I receveid another diploma allowing me to teach Graphic Arts, Drawing and the Art history . I have been joining a few art exhibitions in Torre Annunziata. During one of my private exhibitions, someone bought all my paintings and I was able to come to France to Paris.... therefore reaching the impressionists’country which was a dream to all painters. I have done decoration works for a few companies in order to get my residence permit. After different exhibitions at the Trade business Italian chamber in Paris, I had good critics in several newspapers.
Painting is a passion for me; I continue painting while working a second activity in the art field at the same time.

Notes from the Professor Giuseppe Gallo, Art historian.

This is his critics after visiting my exhibition :
Our attention is easily drawn to Verniti paintings which seem to be done in a pure and happy free spirit. If all the paintings don’t carry the caracteristic of a large bright cromatic, they all reveal a fresh tone from a personal interpretation. A few depend on romantic postulates, or don’t repeat the same accent through the subjet or through the executive detail. His paintings is an art containing the vitality of youth, he puts it together with a muddy mixed technique. He captures the attention with a mélange of colours not meant to recall the ambition of a spectacular contrast but a break down with the usual, with the present to respect the values of inspiration with the present. If this way don’t tend to despair, but is the fruit of the search which is the best of Verniti paintings, it remains the harmonious through a real balance which gives the hope of a spiritual soothing value, coming out through the charms of poesy. If the painting “Le Cheval” gives a vision of something contemporary, this colour reduced to the minimum in a transparency of whitened tones, it is a loving way not to leave any marks of drawing, through grey-blue veils, the whitened body just evanescent in a suggested mountain sight. One has here the phase of research for individual and efficient solutions. In the “Scorcio du Cheval” also, very keen subject to the “Macchiaioli” (Impressionist) painters, natural freedom is the way of interpretation. The hardness of the summary and harmonious drawing gives bright and spontaneous tones like the reflexion of truth. A synthesis of the landscape don’t show any remakes, but appear to be a palette searching for a “chiaro-scuro” balance. It is rich in effects. A lyrical settling in the “Torre Annunziata” sight strenghtens a contemplative obvious sensation and a melancholic feeling for nature. “The Ocean Shore” is made in a manner where part of it is left for dreams. Another calls for the balance chromatic games after the manner of De Pisis. The shadows and lights accentuation is creating an harmonious and delighful balance. A version of “landscapes” with a simple mixture of colours over the surface is leading us through few rhythmical lines with dark tones to a luminous background. Also a still life with fruits made of a muddy intensity (caracteristic of Verniti’s manner) is a research after observing his contemporaries. The shadows are mingling harmoniously in a contrast in “The landscape with trees”; it is a melancholic touch in a limited space. “The Fiacres” are a shadows and lights rhythm which regulates the foreshortening play of the second with an illustration display of the first one. The “Torre Annunziata’s port view is immersed into a bright lights atmosphere wtih very few movements in the reflections which gives backgrounds of structures with accentuations of strength. While responding to a deep and genuine impulse of his spirit, Verniti would know how to reveal us the complexion of his personality that he widely lets us catch a glimpse.

Critics from the magazine “La Voce”.

Salvatore VERNITI,
The color strength.

Born in Torre Annunziata (Napoli), Salvatore VERNITI has been studying Art in Napoli and receiving the Art Master degree and then the habilitation to teach drawing and art history. His artistic inspiration was born and grew up in Pompei and in this fabulous cozy place such as la “Campania”. His first paintings exhibition in his native city allowed him, at 25 years old, to finance his trip to France, homeland for the impressionists. He lives presently in Paris where he realizes his passion beside his antique dealer’s activities and organizes numerous exhibitions.
We have met Salvatore VERNITI during his exhibition from October 16th to 30th at the Automotion (Hyundai) headquarters, 63 rue Rochechouart, Paris 9. We have discovered a pragmatic and friendly artist. As he likes to say : “painting should not be repetitive, it should be a constant renewal”. Joining his acts to his words, Salvatore showed us its last original idea: the reproduction of some of his paintings to decorate a car (a i10 Hyundai model), therefore creating the first 4 wheel painting that you are welcome to visit anytime.
Salvatore VERNITI’s talent lightens imagination and gives it a truth key. Truth connections that Salvatore creates directly stating that his art is responding to his own creativity and doesn’t belong to any teaching school. His free interpretation generates attractive and warm colors in his paintings. Truth of a style with direct and precise lines that doesn’t carry along too many details to take you away through harmonious and captivating landscapes. Respectful of the sudden inspiration, harmony must be present immediately because Salvatore never retouches his paintings. Truth of colours that he creates himself. Truth of the material used : jute fabric which is a part of the colors and gives the painting an additional intensity. Truth of a constant chromatic balance that mixes harmoniously the contrasts and creates light and shade atmosphere and reinforces fascination.
Salvatore VERNITI paints with facility and claims his authorship over more than 250 paintings. Each of them has a soul. Each of them has a parcel of dream to offer.
Salvatore VERNITI's way of painting is like this : warm and generous; it will bring you more than you can expect.

October 2009 - the article in the chinese newspaper : Kanzhongguo

The corean Hyndai car is showing up with a new robe.

October 16th, 2009, 19 p.m., Paris.
Automotion and the french Hyundai company, are setting up a showroom with the participation of a talented italian painter, Salvatore Verniti, drawing on the car, mixing art and the automobile technology. The Automotion director (Lionel) is explaining to us that it is an innovative idea from the artist Verniti. This artist was a regular client of the french company. One day, while going to the concessionary, he had the idea to use his paintings to decorate a car. Lionel liked the idea and decided to make it a reality, using the opportunity of the next showroom. It took 3 months. The company want to put the paintings on the i10 cars. At the showroom opening, the painted car was a real attraction. The walls around were covered with 53 of the artist paintings. The paintings represent french and italian landscapes. Lionel is saying that the corean automobile business is doing well and the sales are optimistic.

The Director of the compilation, Mister Oliver FURON-BAZAN, writes :

C’était à Venise de René Le Bars. Paintings : Salvatore Verniti (Editions du bout de la rue) price : 10 euros

This type of small compilation can only meet with success and finally come across a strong concurrence very quickly with plagiarists who think that “haîkus” and paintings can easily mix well together. However, an easy perspective doesn’t exist because it has been a must for the author to find an excellent painter. René Le Bars has found on his way the equivalent of his writings...... bravo. And those fourteen original paintings are simply matching perfectly this “haîku” introduction “Un matin frileux – L’aube est entrée dans mon âme – C’était à Venise”. Beauty of the colors, memory’s magic, discovery of romantic walks with “L’esquif en sommeil – hors du temps et des saisons – Balance ses rêves”.

The numerous Salvatore Verniti’s paintings (young italian living in the French capital since a few years) are carrying the stamp of the most limpid luminosity of the Napolitan Gulf where Torre Annunziata, his native land that he repeatedly presents us, which he forces on a range of green and blue with a thousand touches of silvered whites and reds placed gradually to melt into golden yellows : an evocation of the “Campagne Felix” and of the splendid partitions of Pompeii and Herculaneum houses.
Very evocative his “hackney carriages”; very attractive his intense green landscapes and the waters which are giving bright gleams.
With very great taste his spatula strokes, in an almost horizontal light.

Since a couple of days about 50 paintings are exhibited at the French-Italian Circle. This exhibition is gathering the works of 3 transalpine painters living in Paris. A very interesting trio because each artist belongs to a different school. Miss Fiorentini represents the one from Rome, the Professor Rampini the Venitian one and Mr Verniti the school from Napoli.
Nonetheless to say that theses sources are illustrating results of a glowing diversity with very personalized tendencies. The varnishing day at the exhibition took place on Wednesday evening at 20h30, with numerous visitors among which one could recognizes : Mr Ludovic Masetti, Italian vice-consul, the Lyon general consul’s secretary, Mgr Jourjon, vicar-general, Mr Chacornac, chief writer of “La Depêche”, Mr R.P. Gallo, Mrs Agostini, Gay, Rousset, etc....
Mr Michel Soulié, chief writer of “La Tribune” apologized for not being able to participate. Two of the painters were present at the varnishing day : Mrs Fiorentini and Mr Verniti, the professor Rampini being held by the Sweden’s King Court where he is actually working. Then everybody went to the conference room where Mr Pougheon has been putting on a series of movies especially interesting because they were completing the jolly brightness carried out by the exhibition. They were indeed pictures of Amalfi, Assise, Sicily and Calabria splashed with light and vibrating with the joy of life.

“La Dépêche” Saint-Etienne – France

Mister Salvatore Verniti from the Napolitan School, is bringing all his strenght and dynamism of his youth in his paintings where we can find a beautiful luminosity. He is trying himself at different styles, but his works always carry the marks of originality. He also fell in love with Paris, and Notre-Dame is having an important place in his paintings. If his tormented temper comes out of most of his paintings, he also know how to reveal a more tranquil temper and go abruptly from representational art to the abstract. He has devoted a large part of his exhibition to “hackney carriages” subject from a litle original italian city and poesy and delicacy are not lacking.
On the whole, an exhibition which deserves a way round.

Salvatore Verniti’s works are also luminous; they reveal, with softness and simplicity, the vues of Paris and the desuet charm of old bridges on the “Seine”, the Place Pigalle caught in a warm summer atmosphere. His napolitan temper, full of life and enthousiastic is present in his wide sunny paintings where the colors are singing his native province of Torre Annunziata, or the port of Napoli, or also the old hackney-carriages stopped over a tranquil place where the density of shadows and lights are so well balanced that we easily recall the warm meridional atmosphere at nap’s time.

S. Verniti personal exhibition.

In France he has joined the “European contemporary Art Exhibition”, always getting flattering successives critics along with honorables comments. His art contains the youth “turbulence” together with a muddy mixed technique. Born in Torre Annunziata he studied at the Art Institute of Napoli. He participated in different collectivities and has already exhibited his paintings. In his paintings there is the light of the “Macchiaioli” and the enchantment of the “Impressionist”. One doesn’t konw if the drawings of his seductive landscapes are due to the technique of the first or are referring to the revolution of the second. But it is certain that the color is abundant and dominates in its variety of melange and conception. In his self portraits one detect a tormented spirit of conquest.

Salvatore Verniti has already done a few personal exhibitions in the main italian centers where he obtained a great success of critis and sales. Through his paintings, there is the light of “Macchiaioli” and the delight of the “Impressionist”, the bright penetrating and abundant color is showing the preoccupation and the anxiety for conquest of the painting by the painter Verniti Salvatore.

Verniti’s private exhibition in Torre Annunziata (Il Mattino).

Salvatore Verniti, back from Paris after 12 years, is exhibiting at the “Auriemma” Gallery of Torre Annunziata. Born in that same city, graduated from the Art School of Napoli and the Magistero, Superior School of Art, it’s after getting the critics attention throught different private exhibitions in the city’s area and other italian cities that the young Salvatore Verniti has left to France and more exactly to Paris where his particular art was quickly a success. Today he is back to his native town with 24 paintings, painted on hessian, with an ochre –coloured chromatism, green, yellow, which takes us to the Seine’s banks, between the “Champs de Mars” and “St Germain des Prés”, in a delightful interesting splendid vision. In the catalogue’s introduction, Aurelio Binetti said “the Verniti’s return to his native city after 12 years absence will surely catch the attention of the amateurs of his paintings, which refer, with no solution of continuity and style, to the Paris way. One will find a more mature Verniti, a definite master of an unusual unique technique. This exhibition can be considered like a gift to the two cities he loves : the native one and the city of adoption".
The exhibition will end on the 30th of December.

The “Corriere della Nazione” newspaper,

Verniti's exhibition in Torre Annunziata.
The private exhibition of the very young painter of Torre Annunziata, Salvatore Verniti, has been inaugurated today. At his first exhibition of his paintings in the communal library of Torre Annunziata, the young man has revealed a very good quality for a bright future. He will still have to work , he will especially have to search for a richer palette with more varieties. Some short cuts à la “Dipisaniana” (De Pisis) look like the painting “La Foule”. This is telling us that from the Verniti’s immaturity of today, something will comme out tomorrow.

The “Il Semaforo” Newspaper,

“The Verniti’s personality”.
In the civil library’s exhibition halls of Torre Annunziata, the states workers circle of the city has organized a private exhibition of the paintings of the young artist, Salvatore Verniti. The paintings on exhibition represent a great artistic potential which deserves attention. One is happy to realize that the seeds planted by the Tourist Association are nourishing the expressive perfection of Art, of Courtesy and of the city esthetics, and are starting to bear fruits.

The Newspaper “Il Mattino”,

In the library of the city of Torre Annunziata, Salvatore Verniti, a young painter already known for his different exhibitions in several cities of our region, is showing his first exhibition in his native city. 30 pieces are on exhibition : thirteen paintings and seventeen drawings made with ink. In his paintings one can find very warm colors and through the landscapes one can detect a temper meant to grow even better; finer, the drawings report the streets of Paris, just imaginative and evanescent. On the whole Verniti is revealing himself as a confirmed artist with a great experience, a better balance and a future ahead of him. That’s what a Art specialist, Mr Giuseppe Gallo, was saying about him : “One’s attention is easily caught by Verniti's paintings which seem to be realized in a free joyful limpid spirit.
